Second set of crossings coming to Reginald Mitchell Way
It's been a long time coming. PC Talbot has been campaigning for it, the old and new Neighbourhood Watches campaigned for.
Well the good news is Sandyford Fire Station is coming with a added bonus, that all groups have been clammering for, and it looks like someone has finally listened.
Towards our roundabout, at some point during this year, probably where the current point where the pavement lowers, will be a pelican crossing.
This means that access to focus, and Holywall Lane and Golden Hill Schools will be easier allowing us more of a direct access to walk to schools, and give us greater access to Chatterley Valley.
Also, during the summer when the bikes are out, we should be able to keep them slowed down, with the odd button press.
We'll have more updates from the meeting over the course of the week

OMG
Great news, will it coincide with roadworks for the fire station, had hoped the road narrowing, done last year would have been held off until the plans for station had been realeased, save all the roadworks. Sound like a killjoy, but everyone finally got what they always wanted, well done to all cocerned, people do listen.
Co-Ordination
Now we should all know by now, when have Council Roadwork departments co-ordinated roadworks, they love to dig a hole and cause traffic cayous, relay the tarmac then 2 weeks later dig it up again!
I do agree though it would have made more sense to do them all together, but hey ho, we waited so long for the road narrowing to be done, which didn't cause too much cayous and mayhem I am sure we will manage to survive more roadwork problems round here.
Apologise to anyone in advance who works in the council roadworks / highways department.
Roadworks
Must be me being cynical, just that am a little upset that whilst trying to get home, they have decided to dig up both the A50 and A500 at the same time.
Co-ordinating Roadworks
Well, we all know they can co-ordinate roadworks very well when they want to ;)
At the end of October, having spent a lovely evening at my mates, I drove back from Trent-vale about 11pm.
As I got to the A50 roundabout, where it joins the A500, traffic came to a complete standstill. Just like it does between 5 and 6 every evening, when I'm coming home from work. I wasn't sure what was going on, but queued with everyone else - there were a lot of wagons about. Just before the A53 (MFI) roundabout, the road narrowed to 1 lane, and stayed like that until about Longport, it was the precursor to the current A500 roadworks, and this would be happenning all that week. What I also found out, was that, the same week, they were closing the M6 between junctions 15 and 16, with the diversion being the A500. Now, what intelligent person decided to cloe 1 main route, and have the diversion partially closed at the same time. Fantastic Co-ordination there!!!!!!!!!!
making money too
They are not as daft as you think. They are making money by having the speeding camera van on the A500 while the 50mph signs are up despite the fact that no work is taking place during the day. Thus the reason for the 50mph limit "Safety of the workers" is no longer a concern. In fact I have yet to see anybody doing any work at night except for putting cones down and then taking them up again.
We should nominate cone laying as an olympic sport Britain would win gold every time !
